Tri Sigma Foundation

Board service is a three-year term appointment, with a maximum nine-year consecutive service limit.

Foundation Board members cannot serve in any other formal volunteer capacity within Tri Sigma on a chapter or national level.

The Nominating Committee will conduct phone interviews with final candidates.

Each Board member is expected to:

• Make an annual unrestricted gift to the Foundation according to personal means, but no less than $1,000 in cash or equities, realizing the leadership role the Board must play in fund development.
• Pay for their expenses associated with the annual in-person meetings, including airfare, hotel, meals, etc. This includes the costs associated with attending the triannual Convention.

• Demonstrated leadership – Participation in leadership roles (e.g., Tri Sigma chapter boards or committees, other nonprofit boards, corporate boards, civic leadership positions)
• Strategic thinking – Demonstrate ability and willingness to work effectively and collaboratively in a group
• Demonstrated professionalism – Demonstrate a high level of personal and professional integrity, acting as a woman of character; display flexibility and open-mindedness
• Commitment to Tri Sigma – Demonstrate a commitment to Tri Sigma Foundation through a history of contributions
• Asking for Support – Willingness to speak about the Tri Sigma Foundation and its initiatives, including asking sisters to join you in financially supporting the organization
• Brings diversity to the Board – Offers a unique experience and point of view
• Commitment to responsibilities – Willingness to commit the necessary time to fulfill Tri Sigma Foundation leadership responsibilities

• Duty of Care – Each Board member has a legal responsibility to participate actively in making decisions on behalf of the organization and exercise their best judgment.
• Duty of Loyalty – Each Board member must put the organization's interests before their personal and professional interests when acting on behalf of the organization in a decision-making capacity. The organization's needs come first.
• Duty of Obedience – Board members bear the legal responsibility of ensuring that the organization complies with the applicable federal, state, and local laws and adheres to its mission.

Applicants will be notified in mid-May.

The Foundation can call for nominations whenever a Board vacancy needs to be filled; generally, this occurs in January each year.

The Foundation is continually growing ways to engage Sigma sisters, including:

• Founders Day of Giving Ambassador: Are you a Sigma that carries some influence with your sisters? Do you like to have fun and have just a little bit of time to give now through Founders Day? We need you on the Founders Day of Giving Ambassador Team! Learn more and sign up by March 1.

• Committee volunteer opportunities: Do you have 3-5 hours a month to give and are looking for a longer-term commitment?
