Grant Application FAQs
Organizations with an established therapeutic play or child life program can apply in partnership with a Tri Sigma member, collegiate chapter, or alumnae chapter. Tri Sigma members and chapters can work with the child life program staff to gather and submit application materials.
The institution/agency to receive funds must be a non-profit organization and have a certified child life specialist, a registered play therapist, or a certified recreational play therapist on staff. Certification must be uploaded in the grant application, and it must be current.
Grants in the amount of up to $5,000 may be awarded for a specific item(s) or project that is not of temporary value to support an established therapeutic play or child life program.
The grant must be for durable, non-consumable item(s) of lasting value, which will remain with the program. However, due to hospital germ and infection protocol, a portion of the grant request may be for "consumable" or one-time use. Consumables should not be more than 10% of the overall request. Items such as baby rattles, pacifiers, and art supplies are consumables that may be considered as part of the 10%. Excluded items include but aren't limited to: cleaning supplies, subscription services (ex. Disney+), software upgrades, and personal items, such as diapers. Additionally, shipping costs and taxes are the responsibility of the institution and should not be included.
GivaGrant only allows a single user to create and edit each application. Tri Sigma members and the organizations they are sponsoring must decide who will complete the full application on behalf of the organization. The applicant will create a profile through the provided link. Applicants can save their progress and return to the application at any time from the GivaGrant dashboard.
The Robbie Page Story

Robbie Page was son of the fourth Tri Sigma National President, Mary Hastings Holloway Page, often mentioned his wish to help children. In 1951, at just 5-years-old, Robbie died of bulbar polio, a devastating disease with no cure at the time. To honor Robbie, Tri Sigma members established the Robbie Page Memorial Fund to fund polio research projects, including the Salk vaccine trials. In 1954 the Robbie Page Memorial Fund became the official philanthropy of Tri Sigma.
Though Tri Sigma's philanthropic focus has broadened, the Tri Sigma Foundation still honors the legacy of Robbie Page by providing grants to hospitals and child life programs across the county.
“I want to have all my birthdays now so I can grow up and help people.”
– Robbie Page, AGE 5
Child Life Therapy

When polio was largely eradicated through vaccine development and adoption, Tri Sigma expanded the use of the RPM fund to support sick and hospitalized children through a cutting-edge treatment called therapeutic play or play therapy. Play therapy helps children meet their developmental and mental health needs through play. Child life specialists and play therapists use play therapy and other methods to help children and their families cope with illness, injury, and hospitalization.
RPM Grant Recipients
Thanks to the generosity of Tri Sigma members and friends, the Foundation awarded 8 grants last year, totaling more $30,000 in community support for children and their families.
